Like a S2000 is stock, lol.Ivo Porč wrote:that was I talking about. That DTM and NASCAR are silhouettes = ''fake'' touring/stock cars.
IN USA term stock car means car, which you can buy in showroom. European touring car is pretty same meaning. Or not?

Re: Other motorsport discussion *spoiler*
nascar racing cars are not in fact stock cars, they have nothing to do with them out of printed brand on the plastic body

Guess what V8SCs are. They're the same chassis with just a different bodyIvo Porč wrote:nascar racing cars are not in fact stock cars, they have nothing to do with them out of printed brand on the plastic body
What would you define as a stock/touring car then?

Re: Other motorsport discussion *spoiler*
as I said about V8 ''at least little bit'' still being touring cars as it still has a classical car base (not only pipe frame AFAIK).
as I said, I think, that stock car according US English is the thing, which you buy in showroom, as the word stock itself hints. (Same what nascar and dtm/drm were for decades until 20? years too - just average cars from public selling lightly modified for racing.)

NASCARs haven't been truely lightly modified for far longer than 20 years.

Re: Other motorsport discussion *spoiler*
The changes these cars have are utterly horrific in terms of "classical car base". The VE is stretched longer than it actually is, the engines are blueprinted, even though it's both Ford and Chevy. And they only just discovered semi-auto shifting at the end of last season like it was a new thing...Ivo Porč wrote:as I said about V8 ''at least little bit'' still being touring cars as it still has a classical car base (not only pipe frame AFAIK).

Re: Other motorsport discussion *spoiler*
Cheers.
Don't get me wrong, I first saw a V8 Supercar when they match raced a couple at Willowbank drag track in Brisbane. They make a good noise, certainly more brutal than anything that has Alan Gow's name attached to it. But for me, parity ruins the whole spirit of the thing. 1997 BTCC was great, despite the Renault Laguna having a fairly good advantage over others, because back then it was dependant on how good your team and car was rather than hope the ENTIRE series models that V8 Supercars has are any good.
Mind you, in terms of looks, I do love what the DTM has to offer. It reminds me of a Group 5 car in a way, which as you know looked purposeful and racey.

Karel Abrahám won his first grand prix today! Awesome race, not for Elías but he is champion whatever. Hope that next season in motoGP will be good for him

Anyway, who cares it is still victory.
EDIT: Simon? In the same corner that Elías and Ianone crashed, Abrahám overtook Simon at the same time, not after or because of the crash . Watch some replay

Just now I saw your edit Dan
"Watch some replay"
Abrahám overtook Simon clearly because Elias just went inside in a crazy way, which caused the crash, and Simon went out of the racing line to avoid him. So, it was because of the incident.Dan Hakulín wrote:Simon? In the same corner that Elías and Ianone crashed, Abrahám overtook Simon at the same time, not after or because of the crash . I honestly can't seeing it closing, not with that amount of infrastructure built. But I can see a lot of hardship to make it all work in the future.
Re: Other motorsport discussion *spoiler*
I would love to do something like this one day...
http://chumpcar.com/
The only problem is, when you add in all of the expenses, it does get rather expensive, in the range of several thousand dollars...

Hannu, who art in Finland, Räbinä be thy name. Sim racers come, races are won, at Agari, as at Xupong. Give us this day our version 1.06, and forgive us all our impatience, as we race those who challenge against us. Lead us not into boredom, but deliver us from work. For thine is the GeneRally, and the AI, and the race cars. Amen!

Re: Other motorsport discussion *spoiler*
Looks like press releases just got a whole load more controversial:
http://www.dragnews.com.au/index.php?op ... n&Itemid=9
I was the first to bring up this issue in Facebook half an hour after the press release came out via email. If you were a sponsor, would you let this sort of thing go out in public?
