With many people posting their work on the forum (also back at RSC) and a lot of other people wanting to use that work for something of their own, (wanting to use a track for their compo for example), permissions are always an issue here. It's always a problem asking authors for permissions, and it's not just tedious work and waiting, sometimes it doesn't work out, as many people have left GR for some time or permanently and we have no means of contacting them. We have on several occasions talked about this, but we always somehow abandoned the subject, never doing anything about it. Until now.
If you're not familiar with the readmes or want a guideline, take a look at this template by Rich Nagel.
Before posting here, please read the forum rules, especially the Attachments section. The rules concerning competitions on this forum are covered there. Forum rules still apply for this forum, but we prompt you to define your status in this thread, as these permissions apply not only on this forum, but on a global scale.
We want to keep this thread as clean and neat as possible, so post only your permissions here. You can discuss the topic in the "Discussion about permissions" thread.
How does it work?
You simply post a reply in this thread containing the following information:
1: All your past nicknames, if any
Post your past (and present) nicknames, separated with a space ( ), semicolon ( ; ) and space ( ) - example: kaho ; AleksiNir. This is in case you changed your nickname over time, so that all your addons, which may be released under different names are covered. Can also be edited later, if you decide to change your name after posting here.
2: Sharing/distributing of unmodified (original) addons
Includes posting on forums, websites, torrents, trackpacks,... Sharing of files in their original, unmodified state.
CARS: Permissions in form of a YES/NO statement.
TRACKS: Permissions in form of a YES/NO statement.
SOUNDS: Permissions in form of a YES/NO statement.
PALETTES: Permissions in form of a YES/NO statement.
OTHER: Permissions in form of a YES/NO statement.
3: Sharing/distributing of modified addons
This one requires more than just a YES/NO statement, as there are many things that can be modified. For the permissions to be as simple and uniform as possible, please enter YES or NO only (one statement for all and any modifications of that type). Also "using your work as a base of my own" issues go here.
4: Competition permissions for tracks
Legalities about competitions are covered with forum rules, so look there for more information. Because we want these permissions to be global (not only applying to this particular forum), fill out the following paragraph in a form of a YES/NO statement.
Under "Standard attributes" are meant AI lines, checkpoints and starting grid.
ALLOWED FOR USE IN ORIGINAL SHAPE: Permissions in form of a YES/NO statement.
ALLOWED MAKING OR DELETING SAFEPITS: Permissions in form of a YES/NO statement.
ALLOWED MODIFYING STANDARD ATTRIBUTES: Permissions in form of a YES/NO statement.
5: Competition permissions for cars
Legalities about competitions are covered with forum rules, so look there for more information. Because we want these permissions to be global (not only applying to this particular forum), fill out the following paragraph in a form of a YES/NO statement.
ALLOWED FOR USE IN ORIGINAL SHAPE: Permissions in form of a YES/NO statement.
ALLOWED MODIFYING PHYSICS: Permissions in form of a YES/NO statement.
ALLOWED MODIFYING MODELS: Permissions in form of a YES/NO statement.

Please note, that writing permissions like: "..I don't allow sharing my tracks on personal websites!" or "You have to include the readme with my palletes!" is redundant and confusing, as it only makes your permission posts messy. Please read both the forum rules and the thread rules before posting such unnecessary posts, your concerns may already be covered there.
1. If author's stance on any subject isn't defined, then it is considered he does NOT ALLOW anything without his written consent. Also, if the author put "NO" under certain category, you can still contact him and ask for permission.
2. Distribution of any author work, that has been released with any sort of a readme file (.txt, .html, .nfo,...) is FORBIDDEN without that readme file intact.
3. If there is a readme file released with any author work, the possible permissions in that file override authors general permissions for that work (e.g. if in general the author doesn't allow modifications, but for that specific work he does allow it and the permission is written in the readme file, then it is ok to modify the file).
4. If an author changes his mind over the course of time, he may post his new permissions (in the same post as the original), but MUST also leave the original permissions. The new permissions are only valid from the date they have been posted, any possible work posted before that is subject to the rules of old permissions. The original permissions may NEVER be just modified!
5. Credit must at all times be given to the original author. This applies to all sharing and competition rules.
6. If an author has released an addon based on another authors work, he can allow distrubution or other usage in this addon category only in case he released a readme with that particular addon, stating who's work is his addon based on. He can also allow distribution in that category in case all the other authors in question allow distribution or other usage in that category.
Example: If egamad released a track based on TuomoH's track, and he released a readme file with that track, where he clearly stated that his track is based on TuomoH's track, he can type YES under Sharing/distributing of unmodified (original) addons or Sharing/distributing of modified addons or any Competition rules. If he didn't release any document that gives TuomoH credits for his work, he MUST type NO under these categories, as TuomoH may not allow it. In case TuomoH clearly allows Sharing/distributing of modified addons, egamad can type YES in the aforementioned categories.
7. In case of braking any of the above rules the permission is void and you are likely to become subject to a warning or even ban (temporary or permanent).
I hope everything is clear, you can discuss the topic in the "Discussion about permissions" thread. Also the rules are subject to change when necessary, so read them before posting your permission status.
