Re: Changes affecting the game physics since GeneRally 1.05

Hmm, such otherwise unexplainable results could be caused by change in simulation framerate, I don't know if it was altered but that's a possibility. Otherwise, maybe some input-related thing, like input smoothing? The game was ported to SDL so they had to go through input handling rewrite I guess.

Re: GR History Treasure Hunters : a GR webzine

Great work Kikwik. Generally always made me think of artistic expresion and creativity, it has to be celebrated, and you're doing it in remarkable way. Nostalgia hit me when I recognized some of those tracks and remembered times, when I worked on, IIRC, my first JE track together with PitbullFIN (Su...

Re: Tracks by Black Rebel (a.k.a. David García)

It's in this file: Black Rebel (a.k.a. David García)-(1-2).zip But for me the "Alca¤iz & Alca¤iz without lines.zip" has malformed name, same with the "AlcaĄiz NL.TRK" file itself, what software do you use to unpack it? Maybe change the name of the second .zip before unpacking...

Re: GeneRally v1.2 - BUG REPORTS

Problem Observed in v1.2d? Yes Observed in v1.10c? Yes Observed in v1.05? Yes Tracks with long names (13+ characters) do not show up at all in the selection screen. Okay, this might be a long shot, but I think I can remember the tracks being available before, the names were shortened similarly as i...

Re: How to be competitive in GR competitions?

One thing that you have to keep your eye on: keyboard keys locking. Due to nature of how most keyboards are built certain key combinations can be impossible. For example, if you want to press up, down and left simultaneously (when decelerating in corner without losing grip as with outright braking) ...

I'm not sure it's what you are doing, but if you're trying to open .car, .trk or other files - it won't work like that. You need tools, which can be found there: http://forum.generally-racers.com/viewforum.php?f=8

How bad can be one game code to say that further bug fixing and improving is not possible? Why for 12+ years it was possible and suddenly someone said "no way, we can't improve the game further"? Well, if the code is written not that well (and it could have been, as GR1 was a hoby project...

I'm proud of making the starting square, that by efforts of all trackmakers ended in pack of great tracks! Also it's nice that tracks have different configurations. I hope that the project will continue someday with even more greatness!

I split the topic, if you have problem dot directly related to the original thread, create a new one please. Are you using the latest version of game? Press F1 on the main menu, the version is displayed in top right. It sound very strange, are you using controller? Are you pressing Alt key at any po...

I'm not sure why GTracks isn't stickied, I think it should be so that people know that there is a thread like that without having to dig around. It's mentioned in Links to some important, but non-sticky topics - read first! topic along with a couple others, which, if all stickied, would take almost...

So I must load it everytime I want to e.g. switch between cars? Pretty annoying, hopefully one of fixes can solve it. Re: Official GeneRally feature request list

So... what about us folk who aren't as lucky to afford widescreen monitors? Well, compromises, compromises... Even then, you have 4:3 screen, not 1:1 (which is the ratio of GR track), though how it looks in the end depends on perspective. You also have a bar at the bottom, which takes some of the h...

Re: Official GeneRally feature request list

I don't remember if it was proposed, but it would be cool to have the track "box" wider. In times, when widescreen displays are more and more popular, having square track leaves wasted space at sides. Having it wider than taller would use the display area better. Possibly as an option.

Okay, I'll try my best to answer your questions :goodvibes: 1. The game was made by two brothers, and perhaps they started it as a side-project, not a full-blown game. Programming online game might be complicated, and they had other jobs to do, so it never happened. 2. The AI doesn't "see"...

I am also very happy for Noriaki Kasai. I stopped following ski jumping about 2008-9, i remembered his name, but I though he might not be jumping anymore, as he was one of the older jumpers. Lately I read, that he is going to olympics. "Nice, it's always cool to see old faces still being around...
