Re: Music taste

Post by Dragon »

I have just discovered this thread, it's really interesting indeed. :)
Maybe I'm one of the few people that assiduously listen both rock and hip-hop. As it regards the rock music, I listen almost everything except the heavy metal or the metal in general while as it mainly regards the hip hop music, I listen to alternative hip-hop and conscious hip-hop.
While if I had to choose my favourite genere, I love rapcore/rap-rock, that combines my two favourite musical genres.
I don't focus only on these kinds of music but I always try to discover new musical genres or artists for instance two of my favourite artists are Daft Punk and Fatboy Slim, that play electronic music.

Here are my favourites (as well as a lot of other artists that I listen less often):
Zebrahead (my favourite band)
Blink-182
Linkin Park (Hybrid Theory's and Meteora's period)
Switchfoot
Papa Roach
Rage Against The Machine
P.O.D.
Limp Bizkit
Kid Cudi
En?gma
Two Fingerz
Kanye West
Alkaline Trio
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Foo Fighters
Flipsyde
Weezer
Bloc Party
Daft Punk
Incubus
Pepper
Streetlight Manifesto
Reel Big Fish
Rancid
Rise Against
Chiddy Bang
Rizzle Kicks
Alterbridge
12 Stones
Three Days Grace
The Offspring
Shwayze
Dargen D'Amico
Dropkick Murphys
Good Charlotte
Hollywood Undead
Suicide Machines
The Knux
Gym Class Heroes
Paramore
Transplants
Wavves

When I go to a flea market, I always take a look at music CDs. And very often, I just buy CDs where I don't know what kind of music is on it, so I just judge the cover. More often, I buy s**t. But it's cheap, so no big deal.

Now this time, I bought a czech CD. It's the metal band Arakain from 1993, a very good one! Greetings to all czech users of the forum!

Probably I am very oldschool; 90´s are best part for music I think. I like slow, calm music like:

or

or
Czech Jaromir Nohavica - German singer Frank Viehweg translates his songs to German

or
now mostly Roxette, R.E.M, Spice Girls, etc.
Now, call me weird :D

For something really out there (usually too out even for me), search for Jandek... But be warned, it's very weird, very creepy, furthest away from music I've ever heard (or maybe not - Merzbow is pure noise after all...)
Huge thanks for suggesting (ages ago) to listen to Jandek's music, it's been one of the very few new things that have been able to get me in very good mood in the last half of a year :) It's somewhat... shall I say... magical music. Thanks for suggesting the music of Kemialliset Ystävät, which I have listened to 2 years now, too.

I also discovered the greatness of Tom Jones and Michael Jackson few weeks ago.
