[cir] CaltonPark

Post by YoNnie »

Hello!

I'm happy to present you my newest track - CaltonPark!

Yes, it's highly inspired by Oulton Park and English club circuits, which I find the most suitable for my style (and I like doing them the most).

I also think it's the most driveable track I've ever done (and maybe will not do such driveable track ever, who knows).

Please enjoy!

PS: Thank you Kikwik for your kind and wise advices as always!

----------------------
I was trying to do some tracks with style different than grassy circuits with forests or lakes but I just didn't enjoy them too much, so I guess I'm quite monotematic but then I'm taking care of it to bring the best experience possible :)

EDIT: adjusted AI and drawed cars. Credits: Kikwik - appreciate as always!

I got the track without reading the full text (my eyes saw "English Circuit" only lol), played a little bit, found it very fun. Then came back to check the post again, thinking "Which BTCC track is this? I dont remember some of these sections" - just to realize it doesnt exist in real life! haha impressive, mate. Its SO 'real life". Cheers!

Imho it's one of your best track YoNnie.

It's one of the few circuits among the thousands that exists for GR, that really feels like driving a real track, while being totally fictional. Part of it is the perfect width of the layout ; not too wide, but not too restrained either. The WS feels just right as well.

I have always appreciated your lmap work and objects placement ; clear, neat, those words really defines your style. It's pleasing to the eyes, while not overwhelming. The lmap stands and tents are truly charming and gives a real ambiance to the track.

One of the pet peeves I had with your old tracks was the lack of sunk tires in corners, and the fact that we could cut so easily some of them. But it's not true anymore with your most recent tracks, and I greatly appreciate when I know where are my limits when I want to beat my time again and again on a track.

Always appreciate when someone release a track or car for GR, as it's so rare nowadays, and I appreciate even more if it's of this high quality.

Thanks a lot for this one, always a pleasure to give you my humble feedback and test your tracks. :goodvibes:

Thanks Kikwik! Appreciate as always, your comment's are full of precious feedback :)

That track was initiated by thought to create a layout which will contain corners I enjoy the most in GeneRally and to create the environment I like the most in GR tracks. That's maybe why it suits so well, because it's tailored to Generally, not the idea of the track (most of the time I imagine track and put it to GR to have virtual version of it, that one is for GR 100%).

So I tried my previous tracks and I really need to say that none of them is not even close to the level of driveability of this one. Also must agree that it bring the feel of real circuit. Corse de Vivedo was more like an art, an idea, it's driveable too but not that much for sure. It's the first track where I like 100% of it. The thing is I put the bar that high that I will be comparing every new idea to this one and it may fail, not gonna lie. Still got some ideas but must rewind them if I will be happy about creating them, because I'd want to have the similiar result to this one. With the time I have for it (it's practially one track per year) we'll see what future brings. Of course creating tracks is for pure fun, but with that small time I have for tracks I want to be happy with the outcome.

It took me 13 years to do such a track so I'm not gonna say these previous tracks was a bad idea, it was part of my journey to bring me to this point, to this masterpiece. I'm really proud of it so you might feel like I'm narcistic but it's really good, and more I think about it the better it is.

Glad you appreciate it as well and hope incoming tracks (if any will be created now) will have at least similiar quality level.
