[tpk] [cir] [ral] French RX Championship Tracks

Post by Kikwik »

The French RX Championship consists of 9 tracks total :

. Lessay - Manche
. Faleyras - Gironde

. Châteauroux - Indre
. Touraine - Pont de Ruan - Indre et Loire
. Kerlabo - Côtes d'Armor
. Lohéac - Ille-et-Villaine
. Mayenne - Mayenne

. Dreux - Eure-et-Loir
. Essay - Circuit des Ducs - Normandie

My goal is to make all of them, in a GR style inspired by aliman's "It's A Small World (Tour)" trackpack which I love.

In green all finished tracks, available in this thread, and in red all tracks that still must be made.

Once finished, I hope to do so, I'll make a trackpack there which will regroup all 9 RX tracks.

_ _ _ _ _ _

I said I'm not doing tracks anymore, but I have a cold right now :ill: and the only thing that can sustain my attention without putting liquids all around is that. :D

So here it is, a maybe quite obscure RX track for international GR players, a track from Indre region in France, Châteauroux.

(Photo was taken when it was pretty dry, so don't mind the muddy area all around the track there)

Being part of the French Rallycross Championship, the circuit of Châteauroux is made of 31% tarmac and 69% dirt. The Joker Lap is a bit long so it can be a challenge to do it once on a 6-7 lap race while your AI opponents prefer to take the main course.

It's pretty barrren there, so the landscape can be felt a bit lacking and there's not a lot of elevation (apart around the track and a not really noticeable slope that exists irl and that I added there anyway), but the layout is quite fun to race on due to being small.

I was of course inspired by the excellent "It's a Small World (Tour)" tracks by aliman which I love, but in a more humble way. :shy:

Seeing so much RX interest by Rotaxary's numerous tracks and CraapyTracks' efforts to do the same, I wanted to please them, so here it is guys. :goodvibes:

Willing to modify anything if there's something wrong so don't hesitate to tell me what I can change.

Hope you'll like it. :bsmile:

Edit : Only changed the POV of Châteauroux, but nothing else for the moment. May check it later to perfect it.

I can only say: "Now go make all the french rx tracks" haha they are literally my favorites!!!!!!! =]
I remember when you did a version of mine (and Rotaxary) "Northwest RX" track, it looked SOOOOO french somehow.
Awesome! Its a perfect "mix" of Rotaxary and the Small World tracks. It cant get better than this!

Thanks mate! haha so cool
Hope you get better soon! Being sick sucksssss, hope its nothing that serious.
Good. GOOD. 10/10.

Thank you ! :)

Well I really want to make all french RX tracks, so I'm glad that you like them, and that you like my rendition of Châteauroux. :goodvibes:

Will see if I can create the other ones. :sweatdrop:

Playing rallycross on GR, I understand why it's liked by many : it have short race sessions, short tracks but technical ones, it's dynamic, it have suspense with its elimination rounds, and it's straight, that said no complex rules to follow for the viewer and no drama.

Thanks again for your comment, really makes me happy. And no don't worry, nothing serious. A little cold, which is going away little by little as the days go by. :bg:

2nd RX track was difficult to make, due to some unusual Hmap and layout ; Essay or also called Circuit des Ducs :
Essay - Les Ducs.jpg
Essay.jpg
Essay - Ducs.zip
(44.2 KiB) Downloaded 19 times

It was firstly raced on 100% dirt. But now it's 62% asphalt and 38% dirt.

The Joker lap is pretty short but beware as it's really tight and you may lose more time than needed there.

It have this weird bottleneck section in the middle with some elevation changes, which makes this part dangerous if you're not focused.

It's a beautiful track, with a lake at its center and a little stream which goes by along the track, with a wooded countryside. Only the parking is less natural and I was lacking will to populate it more with lmap objects like cars, camping-cars or tents. :ouch:

Hope you like it. :goodvibes:

NO WAAAAAAAAAAAY!! You are actually doing it!! Whoaaaaa
This is so cool!! Mate, help me here. I need to know which car you and rotaxary normally play on your tracks! I dont know which one is the RC2 (? this is the one you guys like, right?). Want to race them like you fellas do! (PM me if you rather)

I LOVED the track! Its one of my favorites! I tried to start making this one once, but it was getting too big, too weird, ugly. I only had the layout, let me share the horrendous thing. GLADLY you made it how it deserves to be!

You are killing it!! Im so happy! haha

What cars we're using ?

For Rotaxary I think AeroWiewiur's or Haruna's cars ? But not sure...

As for me I deeply love Hormous' WRC Essential Ultimate carpack, which is truly an awesome one for rally cars, for its physics, models and the sheer number of eras and categories available. It can feel chibi for some but it doesn't matter for me, at contrary.

Glad that you liked Essay as well ! It took me longer than expected but I'm having a lot of fun with those tracks so I'm eager to create them all.

I really want you to know that it's a pleasure to read your posts, as you're so full of positivity and energy, and you make me laugh so much. "let me share the horrendous thing"

I'm really happy to do those tracks for you, and grateful like Rotaxary, that you comment on our tracks, and share some of yours as well as it's encouraging for us to keep creating tracks.

Let's keep going ! :goal:

And here comes Kerlabo :

58% dirt, 42% tarmac, an interesting Joker lap with a technical exit, 2 bumps on this straight at top section, a fast circuit overall that I hope you enjoy as much as the other ones. :bsmile:

10/10 again!
I like how these tracks are smaller and tighter, so its preeeetty hard to run on the car I play, but it feels awesome to try to beat the laptimes. Im doing "9,19" already! It feels so good to try to master the layout. I gotta release the acellerator right after the jump and just coast trhu the entry of the next corner, then just a small kick on the acell again and then just wait for the next corner. Super rad! Loving you are doing these tracks for real!

Yeah, I play basically only with the RC2 and sometimes RC3 cars from Gzehoo.
I feel like they are the best representation of RX cars with GR-like physics.
They are fun to race and easy to control, so it's ideal for me and bunch of friends when we gather around to race.

Dreux is ready to welcome your dirty activities. :D

70% dirt and 30% asphalt but I'm not sure if those numbers are right looking at the track... It got 2 sloped corners, bottom left and top right.

A pretty long Joker lap like Châteauroux that will leave you in the dust if you can't master this track. AI will give you a good run for your money, if they don't try to kill each other in the first corner.

I tried to search for any bush or signs of vegetations higher than grass on this track but can't find any unfortunately.

Hope you'll like it as well. Only 5 left !

mate your tracks are PERFECT... but what have you done with the AIs?? I CANT BEAT THEM!
Like, for real. Im YET to finish ANY of these tracks better than P4 (only because some of the AIs crashed!) hahaha
Incredibly hard for me with the Prospect-X car - or your buggys. IMPOSSIBLE!
I can get the best lap of the race in Dreux and Essay, but thats it. P5 is my regular position in all of them.
Not sure i need to tune down some of the AIs, but its basically at your tracks (and Holjes!! Maciej version, I think? Dont remember). IMPOOOOSSIBLE!
I love the challenge, but its taking too long! haha your AI lines were ideal, apparently! Good job. IM SO FURIOUS haha
Cheers. LOVING it

Thank you as always ! :)

Glad that my AI are tough opponents. :D

I generally go with AI 100 and test them for some time to make it competitive and that they don't crash, cut the corners or go too wide. But it's not good to have too good AI lines or too badly made ones, as it's not really fun in those cases. It can be hard to judge the right balance. :meditate:

I can't imagine how difficult they can be with AI 130 which you're racing against ! And you're in P4-P5 ! That's impressive. :cool2:

Personally at Châteauroux and Dreux I can't finish first while starting at last position doing the joker lap once. They're too good for me. Though they don't take it so. :D

Whoa, somethin' unusual from your hand! Among many different art-masterpieces now comes RX tracks - good idea!
I think Generally is really close to RX racing at whole so this is really good thing to do.
RX tracks are also good place to show lmap skills, well combined tarmac with mud is always pleasing eyes!
I'm really a fan of lmap (which is obious as you're talented in it), not really a fan of these walls, I think you could do it smoother (did you use GR tool by Mlynki? That's a great tool!), even without snakeditor (but in such smal WS I think it's not a shame to use that).

Definately worth trying and will come back here with some more details for each track!
Upcoming: Paul Park (15%) | Rockfield Rebuild (30%) | WIP (5%) | WIP (5%)

Thanks YoNnie ! :goal:

Yeah those walls are not smooth like peanut butter as I place them all in TE. I had the habit to use Snake Editor but it was so long to do, I still remember the pain. :sweatdrop:

With Mlynki tool I tried once but seems a bit clunky to use. I may retry though.

I'm not too fond too on those double lines of armo barriers but we don't have mesh walls in GR. Maybe concrete walls for the outside walls instead ?

Thanks for the lmap, really trying to make some good effects with mud and dirt on the layout, though RX tracks are quite arid in terms of landscape.

I had many artistic ideas for tracks, like a medieval book with lot of flourishes, but it was too time consuming to keep going. Some space tracks with special palettes, cakes ones and so many others but time and will are lacking. :D

Don't know if I will ever finish those but we'll see how it's going. :)
