Re: Genrally - 7 Cars WIP
Interesting, what exactly are you doing here?

Re: Genrally - 7 Cars WIP
Been coding for the last 2 months - 7 hours a day. Code and test.
Re: Genrally - 7 Cars WIP
What is the plan, surely you arn't coding without a goal in mind.
Re: Genrally - 7 Cars WIP
The plan... get car 7 driving perfectly like the other cars.
Then code the point system as laps and laptime ready.
Then extend to the 8th...9th...10th..11th and 12th car

Re: Genrally - 7 Cars WIP
Cool, what are you using to get the additional cars into the exe?

Re: Genrally - 7 Cars WIP
Track Editor is ready.
1. New Track can have 7 starting positions.
2. Existing Track can have the the 7th start location placed.
3. Save and Load feature with 7th position works.
[admins pls delete the recent other threads I created on this topic - sorry]

Re: Genrally - 7 Cars WIP
Car movement is now complete, responds 100% to AI % Level.
NEXT:
1. Correct car 7 shadow - missing wheel shadow on the front wheels and dislodged RR wheel shadow.
2. Car7 collides with object but not with cars yet
3. GUI and Points

Re: Genrally - 7 Cars WIP
Well, this is certainly one of the more interesting threads I’ve encountered here in a while. Something new. Did GeneRally go open source and nobody told me or are we using AI to reverse engineer stuff, or what is happening here?
Aeon's Advance Series Tracks
You can do whatever you want with my tracks, just give me credit please. (I like to check in once in a while and see if anyone is doing anything interesting with my stuff!)

Re: Genrally - 7 Cars WIP
Please share the news I am now more confident.
Now I have car 7 behaving properly like an AI car. Fixed the issue of the shadow. Today I implemented the collision.

When the time comes I will start a facebook page on this project. Share the word.

Re: Genrally - 7 Cars WIP
Now this is photoshop. Now that I got all the data right for car 7 with regards to fuel/damage bars, position, lap number and time. Will try to move the data for car 7 as follows.
The bottom bar does not have space for this.

Re: Genrally - 7 Cars WIP
Can you see the full stats for car7?

Re: Genrally - 7 Cars WIP
A few of us have been having a go at reverse engineering and then modding. Nothing is open source. As far as I'm aware, Jeffery's is not using AI, nor my attempts, I think we just started getting desperate

Re: Genrally - 7 Cars WIP
interesting. Is it super hard to do it?
Isnt there a way of just adding nother car and say "Just do the same"? haha no idea how this works
Cheers

Re: Genrally - 7 Cars WIP
Are you kidding? Yes I have magic wand and I say I want another car..
It is technical and a lot of trial and error. To explain short I use tracers to capture memory addresses and activity. Then I am coding a plugin in Visual Studio which adds/edits/replicate/increase loops and arrays in memory without overlapping data. Just to move the HUD I made above 100 memory tests and still not ready.
I ve been modding games (especially fifa games) for the past 35 years and have written a lot of plugins which do memory swaps. That time was hard. Today tools have improved.
Once I get car7 complete I think it will be easier for me as I have documented what I achieved so far.

Re: Genrally - 7 Cars WIP
Really interesting project! Getting extra cars working in the original game is impressive.
I’ve also been exploring the original GeneRally with AI tools and reverse engineering to build a separate Rust implementation. My main goal is preserving the original handling and compatibility with existing tracks and cars. It’s already playable with up to 24 cars, though it’s still a work in progress.
I’m considering releasing it for free and publishing the source, with users supplying their own original assets. Would people here be interested in seeing a short demonstration? I’d be happy to start a separate thread so this one stays focused on your project.
