Track Ideas, W.I.P. Previews and Teasers v2

Gravel, tarmac, snow. Whatever the surface, you'll find it here.

I disagree. Soft walls aren't automatically bad, I think that they look good here, they bring more color to the track and aren't too distinctive.

What is badly needing improvement in the track is the office block stack in the middle. It's simply too big and consistent. Try leaving gaps between different blocks, and play with the height and angles of the buildings. Also the way the buildings block the view on the racing roads bugs me, it's actually not a problem that your car goes hidden for a while (though I would move/delete the leaf tree blocking the view on the top corner), it just looks wrong to me the way it is now. I know that doing these things would break the authenticity of the track, but doing it would improve the track greatly. Other than that the track looks really good :)

Are you going to leave the borders of mud and tarmac like that or is it final touches?

I would make macadam in bot left and i would put some people there.
Could you make ,on road in top right, tire trace? I think it would look better.

Pesonally I'd alternate soft and concrete walls

Asphalt, tarmac (aka tar-macadam) and macadam road aren't entirely same thing. :-)

As Cocney is Croatian, I believe they use the same word (makadam) as we do - for gravel roads. :read:

@ Luke: you'd do well, original pure macadam is really a gravel road - with plan and care about size of gravel pieces in various layers. :-)

@ JWong: really cool track with the soft-wall, kerbs, lot of house roofs and other details it has very unique red-black mood. :yummy:

hey jwong a simply improvements..i'll try to put better the office blocks (now they are good but i think that will be better if you put it to obtain a clean line in the front) and to delate some light from the down corner...perhaps they are too many..for the boat to the right ... some concrete walls below this may seem like a stand or cart.
however, are getting a good job :bg:

A look at my first ever WIP, Western Pennsylvania. It is a fictional track based on a track that I used to "race" my hot wheels cars around when I was a child :bsmile: I know it's not close to complete, and when it is I know it won't hold a candle to most of the other tracks on here. :P

Modified the office blocks a bit more; removed some soft walls; removed some of the lights from the inside of the bottom corner and tried to make the boat look like it's on a trailer.

Nice, but i think it needs more corners and stuff like that. A bit more of a challenge.

I think there don't have to be more corners. The varying width for instance gives enough challenge and the layout is interesting even this simple. :) Looking forward to it.

JWong, looks very good, but I sort of agree with Wouter, there could be an alternative, at least, where there's a shicane, or an S-bend, on the long straight. :)
