[cir] [roa] Ardennes

Fictional circuit partly based upon roads in the Ardennes in Belgium. Inspired by a certain well-known Belgian track ;)

First track I made (and finished) in years, so don't expect too much.

Credits to Balázs - duh :D, edited by DXTR - for creating my TE-only layout in SnakeDitor.

Message edited by DXTR: your screenshot's resolution looks bigger than 800×600

Nice one!

I tried to remember that "certain well-known Belgian track" you mentioned, but can't think of one right now. ;)

The "Eau Rouge" part is extremely dangerous, with walls at both sides.
I noticed that at the last corner before the finish-line, it makes no difference if you go left-right-left, or try to go straight ahead between the two soft walls.
(Maybe you should "check" the checkpoints?)

I'm the only one who can't download this track? i get a 'invalid zip format' message. I've seen this in GT GR topic in italian forum and the track is just amazing.

Little off-topic: You should also start a thread here about that project ;)

Regards!!

Edit: Mmmm, i get this error in all attachments files of the forum. It seems is my fault, any advice?

try to use another extractor or re-install the presently used. I obviously open them via total commander and alternatively 7.zip. Both have no troubles with downloaded files. ;)

What is the AI like? Its been years I did a (serious) track, and have no idea if everything is up to todays standards.

To be honest, the AI is §%&$!!!'+*':[]'§"%/?!!

Seriously, I really had a very hard time racing against the AI, especially in the sharp corners in the lower-right area.
But in the north-east corner, or upper right, they tend to drift out of the corner.

Very well done, I must say.

Alonso, since I last saw some of your tracks, I have to say that they have stepped up a mile :bg:

I only have a few things to pick about it:
- Maybe zoom in a lil more
- The AI on the Eau Rougesque corner hit the sunk tyres a little bit

Other than those things, it's brilliant, you might see a ToM crown with that :king: The AI is good and you've made a very challenging circuit in such a small area. I really love this circuit and it is now one of my favourites already :D

Ardennes combines GR-style simplicity combined with modern-day refinement. Even if this track has no super fancy shmancy landmap trickery, what is there is done superbly, with enough "dithering" of the textures to fit with the modern times, yet, it's kept in moderation to maintain a still very clean look. Combined with an excellently flowing layout (EXCEPT FOR THAT LAST CHICANE  ) it's a place any driver should visit.

Nothing better than whipping out that Club Racing-tuned Nissan Skyline GT-R (KPGC10) around this track.

5 stars, and congrats on winning ToM  :hattip:

AGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH.

CAN SOMEONE DELETE THIS POST?

@ ashman12: Please don't bump topics older than 30 days unless you have something very important to say, because bumping like this confuses other users. ;)

If you compare post times, you*ll see that is a bump:
Ivo posted in Feb and you did it in June ;)
But please avoid this next time, cause you might get some warnings :|

Not old, but the rule says that you shouldn't post to threads that haven't been posted in one month unless you've got something extremely important to say. That's why people notified you.

Then you should have heeded what it said silently. No more comments please.
