Bought Minecraft just in time for the full release. I haven't upgraded to 1.0 yet, I'm waiting for the Optifine mod to update. Anyway, just to get used to playing, I started a world in beta 1.8.1. Apologies for the fog; even with Optifine my computer is not really fast enough to run Minecraft at a decent rendering distance.


My house. Sort of a beta version of what I eventually want to build, but I thought it was a bit silly to build the full thing when I'm going to be abandoning it for my 1.0 world. My cobblestone generator (which took me a few tries to get right) and storage area sits to the left, and my hidey-hole/initial mine is behind the house, obscured by the fog. The road leading off to the right connects to my spawn point.


Boat dock that I built under the house, and a bridge over the river to my farm area. I started laying down a road that came down from the bridge and followed the river, but I don't think I'm going to do anything with that.


My farm area. The tree farm supports 14 trees, with enough space around each tree to let me walk between them. The area on the right contains wheat, sugarcane, and cacti (which I had to walk for a few days to obtain, quadrupling the size of my world file in the process). The unused area in the corner was supposed to be for melons.

Me neither, and because of this shortsighted approach, they're going to go over existing version numbers or have similar ones, so people searching for this games' version history in the future won't know what came first, and will be constantly confused as to why 1.00 has way more features, items and better physics and graphics than 1.20, or any other version.

1.8.1 was a beta release. Mojang reset the version number back to 1.0 with the full release. Same thing happened during the transition from Alpha to Beta; the last Alpha version was 1.2.6 before they reset it to 1.0 for the Beta versions.

Alex: There's not really any chance for confusion; the alpha and beta versions had "Alpha 1.x.x" or "Beta 1.x.x" as their version numbers. The full release just uses "1.x.x" with no additional words.

Whilst I disagree with their strategy, it does make sense once explained like that - but it is a point of confusion.

EDIT: Unfortunately, I won't be able to keep a server running 24/7, as I won't be able to dedicate my computer to it.

Rofl, was today playing at my buddy's house, Trying to get to the end in Creative. It took my three times (I kinda accidentally destroyed the Endportal on the first 2 tries ) to get there, I killed the dragon, and the ending texts are just awesome :O

@Wouter, I see the Network name correctly... And we play so, when the owner of the hamachi network is online, you check his IP (the number behind his name) and put that in the Multiplayer part

BTW i do not have a paid minecraft account but i have a loader wich makes it able to play online. I think i can play online with that.

Anyway: it doesn't have to be the owner who sets up the server. Anyone within the network may set up a server. (Of course, you have to know what you're doing. )

Just download the official server client here. (NOTE: Minecraft must be in version 1.0.0 or you won't be able to join these servers!)

Then, in the server properties file, add/edit these lines as follows:
To join the server, just use the host's Hamachi IP address as the server IP.

is anyone currently holding a server? Since I can't cos mine would lag waay too much .-.

And you know, Resi is living in Indonesia, so therefore it would be hard for him to run a server 24/7.

I tried to setup my own server for when resir isnt online
but im getting an error that im not premium.
