Original Track Update Project 2010 - Discussion topic

Post by resir014 »

Got the 2005 Track Project from Paw. I see that the only track that's good here is Crowella's Bytes :P

Can we have a "World Tour Track Project 2010"?

We would need permission from Rabinas probably. I'm not sure, how many trackmakers would be interested btw.

I'd prefer redoing the original original (Agari, Bytes etc) tracks. We did that in 2005, and world tour in 2006 or so.

I'm almost sure I'd participate in it.

Well, we had permission for the first project, so if I understand these things correctly, we don't need it again, do we?

Guys, I set for this idea a discussion topic in tracks section to discuss more - for example if you want to work from scratch or use old tracks as bases (it has influence if we would need permission or not), if it should take original tracks, Worldtour or both, who will be person coordinating all trackmakers, rules of dividing tracks between trackmakers and so one.

I like aleksi´s idea more, and also not everyone who comes can make version, it has to have some level of quality

I don't like XYY's idea... If we do it that way I wonder who will make Algeria and Egypt :D

I don't think we need a new permission, we just have to call this thread "World tour 2010" and start trackmaking. :flip:
We should wait the opinion of other people anyways ;)

We should let everyone participate, and vote for the best track if multiple versions are made of some track (like in the original project). Wouldn't be fair for the not-so-skilled ones ;)

I'd really like to make original tracks instead of world tour... :shake: or maybe both? Then we probably wouldn't get a version of every 32 tracks though...

Other PoV - we need decent version of each of the tracks. So maybe it should be just by 3 trackmakers per each track + booking (who comes earlier can choose, which he wants).

Well, maybe we just should not finish the project until there's a good enough version of every track. But not ban the worse trackmakers anyway

Btw, maybe we should make a poll of which project we do? a) original b) world tour c) both

Wait, wait, so there WAS an World Tour update project finished, or not? If yes, and if someone has is, I would him to send it to me!

About new project:
Booking would be quite ok. at least at the beginning, otherwise some tracks would be 'forgotten'. If there will be more participants we could resign from the bookings.
WT or GR? Well, I can make track in any category, but if there was no WT project (?), maybe it's an option?

Yep there was, never entirely finished but very close to finish, like 90% I would say.

In the original project everyone could make any track they wanted, and as many as they wanted, so booking isn't needed if we do it that way. Ivo's suggestion (max 3 versions/track) might work well though.
But yeah, we should try to aim to get at least some kind of a version of every track done.

If no one else steps up to organize this, I guess I could. Probably won't need that much energy :flip: Anyway we need to decide about some details before start.

I think, that at least list of tracks and who works on which will be needed. BTW, I'm not sure, if the permissions were given commonly (time unlimited). I would guess, that for default ''GeneRally'' tracks they were given only for the project (2005 versions) and limited just for that pack, so we would have to ask somebody for new permission. But if the World Tour 2006 were never finished, we can say, that we continue that project (finishing it - in limits of that permission) and maybe even include surviving tracks into final election/pack.
