[cir] [rwl] Bugatti Circuit Le Mans
After a suggestion by Ivo, i thought i would have a go at this track. 3 versions, one with the long pit exit, one with the short, and one with a le mans style grid layout.
Hope you enjoy, comments welcome
Cheers, BBA!
edit: ok, tightened up the 1st chicane a little bit, although theres not that much difference, and in response to aleksi's comment below, yeah, they caused me a LOT of bother, i reworked them both 4 or 5 times, just found it really difficult to make them slow enough
edit: after all the changes mentioned below, one last minor change, as suggested by Ivo

You really could've made those chicanes tighter, now they're actually just small kinks The sunk tyres are too close for my taste. Else than that everything's well done

Nice track, nice to drive but i think the chicanes have to be "smaller" like AleksiNir said.

Sadly, guys are right about the chicanes.
But at least finally a decent Frech circuit. Rest of track works very good (mainly hmap) and for eye it's real candy.

Re: [cir] [rwl] Bugatti Circuit Le Mans
If there're any kind of tracks I know almost perfectly, these are the ones used by the FIM Road racing championship (guys, MotoGp is just a class).
1st: As nearly everybody here said, chicanes are not well made
2nd: this track is CLEARLY disporpotioned. If you cut this track in half you have 2 in-between chicanes sections. The low-right half straights are too long (the straight before the last hairpin is the clearest one) while the upper-left half straights are too short (hairpins are too wide so straights seem shorter).
3rd: the last double-apex hairpin is too fast and too wide.
4th: This point is just personal opinion. This track is normally turned 90º clockwise, not 90º anti-clockwise.
That's all, folk.
CLUE: the apex of "Le Museé" (2nd hairpin) is aligned with the 2nd apex of the Dunlop chicane.

Re: [cir] [rwl] Bugatti Circuit Le Mans
It's not so bad IMHO. No rwl is perfect in layout. In fact only the chicanes were middle-serious update-worth thing. E.g. ''the apex of "Le Museé" aligned with the 2nd apex of the Dunlop chicane is correct in fact, because in GR we cannot set apexes only, but take in consideration whole width, because no GR map is not enough big - another disproportion would be created elsewhere.

Re: [cir] [rwl] Bugatti Circuit Le Mans
I've made some kind of notes in the original screenshot posted by BBA
Red squares stand for "where the road has to be" while yellow dots stand for "where the white lines have to be" (inside lines, only in the last hairpin is really useful to see how wide has to be).
Do you find that the updated track could be better??
Forget about the red squares, the only useful thing are the yellow dots.

Well I have only tested the version that is out right now, and it´s perfect!
I love the layout, I think it´s faithful to the original track and I loooooove the h-map, especially in the first chicane!
So cool man!

Re: [cir] [rwl] Bugatti Circuit Le Mans
I think I can say the same as Fechna did: the Bugatti track is not that easy to be replicated. Especially the chicanes. Maybe a bit curvy, maybe a bit not exact, but I think you've still passed my wishes for an RWL. Great job!

Re: [cir] [rwl] Bugatti Circuit Le Mans
thanks for all these comments.
I guess i will do a modified version soon(ish), although not to the degree that die996 suggests, mainly because i dont think that many of these will improve the track.
Moving the track to the 1st red square will bring it in line with musee hairpin, which it isnt. Moving the track to the 2nd red square will bring it in line with the chicane, which it isnt. so i think i may leave these.
The reason for the last turn being more open is because i wanted room for the pitlane, and pit building along with the gravel trap behind it. i already had to compromise the pit entry. but i may make it a bit narrower if it doesnt look wierd.
however i may move the 1st corner of the dunlop chicane right a teeny bit and try and make it all a bit tighter, and il try and rework the area on the right, but im gonna leave the current version too...

Well..I think the track is ok maybe not like the rwl, but is really nice
if the chicanes is bothering you...why don't you do the old version?
it's simple and faster

Re: [cir] [rwl] Bugatti Circuit Le Mans
Do the full de la sarthe and old layout. (The full mulsanne straight without slowdown parts.)
It would be awesome.

I think that as your Buenos Aires, the continuing track should be the same width as the track... Looks good otherwise...

Re: [cir] [rwl] Bugatti Circuit Le Mans
Well I don't think the chicane IRL is super tight anyways so I think it is all right in your second version.
I just want to let you know that checkpoints 13 and 14 don't stretch all the way to the pit lane, so when cars go for the pit they will miss a lap!
Otherwise it is a very good track!
